A drug and alcohol consortium is a program that helps trucking companies follow federal drug and alcohol testing rules without having to manage everything on their own. Instead of handling random testing selection, recordkeeping, and compliance reporting yourself, a consortium manages it all for you.

If you have CDL drivers and operate under DOT regulations, your company and drivers must be enrolled in a consortium. Operating without one puts you at risk of fines, violations, and being placed out of service.

If you already have a valid pre-employment drug test on file, your driver may not need to retest. Just simply provide a copy of the Chain of Custody form and verified results for consortium eligibility. If those documents aren’t available, a new pre-employment drug test will serve as their entry into the Aladdin Consortium.

All future drug and alcohol test results will come directly to Aladdin, so there’s no paperwork for you to manage.

Drivers are selected through a quarterly random pool based on DOT requirements.

If a driver fails a drug or alcohol test, federal regulations require them to be immediately removed from safety-sensitive functions, which includes operating a commercial vehicle.

From there, the driver must complete an evaluation with a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), complete any recommended treatment or education, and pass a Return-To-Duty test before getting back behind the wheel.

Our team will serve as your Designated Employer Representative (D.E.R.) for all SAP cases and can facilitate the Return-To-Duty process for $50 per observed test.
