CVSA International Roadcheck 2026: What Truck Drivers Need To Know

Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) holds a 72-hour inspection blitz across North America known as the CVSA International Roadcheck. The goal is simple: make sure commercial drivers and vehicles are operating safely and staying compliant with DOT regulations.

For 2026, International Roadcheck Week will take place Tuesday, May 12 through Thursday, May 14.

If you’re a carrier or driver, now is the time to prepare for roadside inspections and avoid costly violations or out-of-service orders.

What To Expect During CVSA Roadcheck Week

During the three-day event, law enforcement officers will conduct Level I roadside inspections, the most thorough roadside inspection commercial drivers can receive.

These inspections cover:

    • Driver documentation
    • Hours of Service (HOS) logs
    • Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
    • Vehicle equipment and maintenance
    • Cargo securement

Violations found during inspections can lead to citations, CSA score impacts, or even out-of-service orders that keep drivers off the road.

One of the best ways to prepare for CVSA Roadcheck 2026 is by staying consistent with pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Taking a few extra minutes to check your truck, trailer, logs, and paperwork can make a major difference during inspection week.

CVSA International Roadcheck 2026 Focus Areas

Each year, CVSA places special emphasis on certain driver and vehicle violations. This year, inspectors will be paying close attention to:

    • Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and ELD tampering
    • Load securement

According to FMCSA data, falsification of records of duty status was the second most-cited driver violation last year, with 58,382 violations issued. Additionally, five of the top 10 driver violations were related to HOS regulations or ELD compliance.

Load securement will also be a major focus during roadside inspections. Last year alone:

    • 18,108 violations were issued for cargo not being properly secured to prevent leaking, spilling, blowing, or falling
    • 16,054 violations were issued for unsecured vehicle components or dunnage

How To Prepare for CVSA Roadcheck Week

To improve your chances of passing a roadside inspection, drivers and fleets should:

    • Review HOS logs for accuracy
    • Verify ELD compliance
    • Inspect tires, brakes, lights, and safety equipment
    • Double-check load securement
    • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
    • Ensure registration, permits, and medical cards are current

Preparation now can help reduce violations, prevent downtime, and keep your trucks moving during Roadcheck Week.

Stay Ready So You Don’t Have To Get Ready

CVSA International Roadcheck Week can be stressful, but preparation goes a long way. Making sure your truck, logs, and cargo are inspection-ready before hitting the road can help you avoid unnecessary violations and delays.

A clean inspection doesn’t just help protect your CSA score, it keeps your business running safely and efficiently.
